Reviews

“I would like to commend you for developing such a fantastic application…this application provides an invaluable “bedside” evaluation tool. As I am sure you aware previously such an assessment was only available through costly and inaccessible diagnostic laboratories.”

If you are practising neurology or vestibular rehabilitation you should be testing subjective visual vertical in your patients. It has been shown to be a sensitive and reliable test for brainstem lesions and is one of the few tests available for otolithic function.

However, up until now testing subjective visual vertical required costly and bulky equipment. The Visual Vertical application for iphone and ipad changes all that. With just your iphone, some blu tack* and a bucket (yes really, a bucket!) you can take accurate readings in just a few minutes, for a tiny fraction of the normal cost.

An article in press at the time of writing in the International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology found that the Visual Vertical application was “a simple, quick, and useful method for detecting PVL in pediatric patients in the clinic setting.” (1)
